On Monday, several citizens and City Council candidates volunteered their time to help pull elodea from the creek bed. Removing the plant will help limit flooding along the creek, as well as with the salmon runs.
Among those working down in the mud were Steve Vermillion, Tom Smillie, Steve Shores, Steve Hastings, Jasmine Hastings, Tim Hastings, Tyler Nagata, Ann Coon, and Lee Brouilet.
Using hay hooks and their hands, volunteers pulled the weeds up, loaded them in rafts, then pulled them on shore and dumped them into city dump trucks to be hauled away.
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with this project!
