After a recent study, city administration is recommending significant raises to our utility rates.
If you’ve read the article, you’ll see that this money is to be used for utilities, including new sewer and water lines. We hope that is clarified at Tuesday’s meeting, because it would seem this money is going to be used to fill part of the $5 million budget deficit.
Either way, a rate increase is not something residents and businesses need right now. We hope the council is able to come to a decision that is best for everyone, not just the city’s coffers. Please consider attending Tuesday’s meeting at 6 pm on the 5th floor of city hall to voice your opinion on this issue.
